The aim of providing students with a taxi, even if they haven’t got the fare, is to ensure that they can get home safely without having to resort to unsafe alternatives.
Safer Taxis for Students
By providing a taxi service to students, we are helping to reduce the risk of students walking home alone at night or using unlicensed and potentially dangerous taxis. To avail of this service, students simply need to provide their student ID to the taxi driver, who then charges the student union and hands in the student ID card. The student can then collect their card from the student union and pay for the taxi ride at a later time. This service not only promotes safety and security but also helps to ease the financial burden on students who may be struggling to make ends meet.
